Wet room boom predicted

The wet-room sector will experience phenomenal growth over the next few years, new research has predicted.

The UK wet-room market is expected to increase by 34% by 2019, according to the latest AMA Research study. The rapid growth is attributed to an influx of innovative products and falling prices. The growth of wet-room installations is expected to increase by 7% to 8% a year over the next two years.

A separate study by Anglian Home Improvements revealed that 43% of people would choose to add a wet room to their home, making it the second most desired home improvement.

Commenting on the new research, HiB marketing director Steve Kaye said: “These strong market predictions come as no surprise at all. With simple, minimalism continuing to dominate bathroom design, a wet room offers a sleek, clean look working to further enhance the contemporary feel.

“In addition, a wet room is an incredibly functional choice – it can add the illusion of more space in small bathrooms while also ensuring ease of accessibility – an important consideration in homes where the elderly or less able are present.”
