06 May 2008John KinderMd, ALNO UKHow would you see the current KBB market? The first part of 2008 has been very positive with sales at record levels for In-toto and high order values for Alno. Our brochure and quotation enquiry levels are also up. Which companies are setting the pace in the KBB market?Companies worth mentioning include Elica with their new innovative designs for cooker hoods. These are both functional and beautiful, allowing for complimentary and expressive design. Kitchen Aid also stands out with its new range of striking, built-in large electrical appliances. On the kitchen front, I think what Poggenpohl and Nobilia are doing with regards to their own retail businesses is very interesting. Perhaps they have taken note of the success we have had with the Intoto franchise over the years. Do you think this is a golden age for KBB design?Customers have so much choice - more than ever before. They really can create the kitchens of their dreams with the colour and finish options, door styles, ergonomic designs and storage features available. Across both traditional and contemporary styles, kitchen quality and the attention to detail at every price point is incredibly high. Kitchens are the heart of the home and more and more, we are seeing the fusion of this room with the living space. Kitchens can add considerable value to a home and in a new development, a show-stopping kitchen can be a real deal clincher. What are your predictions for the industry in the coming year? With so much negative media comment about the economy, inevitably people will become increasingly more cautious and careful about where they spend their money. However, the kitchen remains the most important room in the home, demanding the biggest investment and I think that while the market will be extremely competitive, it will still be buoyant. In terms of products - sleek contours, high gloss and dramatic wood grain finishes, handleless doors and nature-inspired colours will continue to grow in popularity. The fusion of the living room with the kitchen will become commonplace as clients desire a more open plan living environment. Who is the most famous person to have blagged free product from you?We never supply kitchens free, but many well known names have opted for kitchens from the Alno Group over the years. | |
