| 19 May 2008 I do love the Internet. It is an essential business tool and brilliantly effective way of communicating blah blah blah but the way it can throw up the most random pieces of stuff makes the day worthwhile. For example, through a deal with our publishers, dmg world media, it is possible for anyone in the US to buy a subscription to kbbreview as a gift for a friend through Amazon.com. Can you think of a better way to say 'I love you' than making sure your wife, husband or partner keeps up to date with the latest toilet news? No, neither can I. If you've ever shopped on Amazon, you'll know that part of its genius is that it remembers what you've bought before and recommends other things that you might like. It also remembers what keywords and tags users have associated with the product so it will come up easier in future searches. So, for kbbreview we have pretty obvious tag words like 'magazine', 'interior design', and 'current events'. But then, the beauty of the Internet also throws in 'Dr Who', 'paranormal' and, my personal favourite, 'textured hair'. It's nice to know our readership extends to beyond this industry and, perhaps, beyond this dimension. Andrew Davies, editor | |
