| Don't just sit there, do something! | |
| 21 November 2008 You know, this business and some of the people, and I stress "SOME", in it, never cease to amaze me. The amount of people I have called in to see lately, that moan about the credit crunch, recession, down turn, slow down etc etc etc. Is this the first time that this has happened? No! Will it happen again? Yes! Have they learned from the last time? No! I will try to explain what I mean. Yes, I know that in general showroom traffic has slowed down. So what are you going to do about it? Well it seems most of you are going to put the kettle on, have another cup of tea, and moan and worry about it. I like fishing in the summer months. Sometimes I will sit there with a couple of friends of mine and if one of us is catching and the others aren't, we change our bait to the successful one. We change our depth or the method of presentation. Can you see where I'm going with this? Only I ask because some of you couldn't see the barn door if you were sitting on the pad lock. You stand around (or lounge) like Blakey from On the buses. "Ohhh (standing on your toes rocking backwards and forwards).. it's bad.....it's really bad....Ohhhh". Well quite frankly get off your butt, stop feeling sorry for yourself and at least TRY and do something about it. If it's that dead, drive around the area, notice where the building work is going on (skips are a bit of a give away) and leave a leaflet or brochure or card. You never know, you might get lucky and get to speak to the home owner. Those of you that offer a fitting service, probably use the same skip hire company most of the time. Why not "Pal up" the driver? Incentivise him to tip you the wink. After all, one hand washes the other. Ok, so houses aren't moving so fast at present, but why not talk to your local estate agent. You might get lucky. Let's face it most of us want to improve the home when we move in. Even if nothing is moving, it doesn't stop you from doing the ground work now for when it picks up again, and it will pick up again. At least they should have time to talk to you. Now trust me, I am not trying to teach you how to suck eggs. On the other hand, I do wonder how many of you have actually tried to do something about it. What have you got to lose? After all, you know what they say, wWhat doesn't kill you only makes you stronger. So stop whinging and get up and fight! Want to write for our blog? Email letters@kbbreview.com | |
