KBB Review Title

Time for serious change
20 November 2009

Do you remember the debate kbbreview conducted a couple of years ago after Colin Seaton's piece "The KBSA isn't working"?

Surely, now we have proof positive - the KBSA isn't working!

After the AGM debacle last year when only 24 members turned up, it beggars belief that Graham Ball & Co. can be so careless as to preside over a 4% drop in attendance this year.

Everything in the KBSA happens in a total vacuum. Now is the time for serious change and I would suggest a call for action at a future meting.

The KBSA, in my opinion, needs to lose its obsession with Consumercare, which is something that any old 'man in a van' can acquire,  and concentrate on the core benefits that only a true specialist can offer. It should reinvent itself with good design as its main USP and should be promoting true bespoke kitchens, bedrooms and bathrooms.

Specialists that get as far as thinking about KBSA membership are usually very passionate about their business and this passion needs to be fed and nurtured.
