Mark my words
10 February 2010

Nick Hopkinson from Mark Two replies to criticisms over his company's relationship with Tesco...

Thanks to Roger Hawkins for speaking out regarding his concerns with Balterley Bathrooms. It's great to see some genuine entrepreneurial passion.

Mark Two is committed to supporting independent retailers and we have invested hugely in Balterley Bathrooms in 2009 and will do so again in 2010.The brand enjoyed growth last year of well over 100% and, yes, that was exclusively with independent retailers.

We grew because we had invested with activity such as the launch of 10 new suites, a new range of enclosures and showers, amazing display contributions and a dealer trip to one of our factories in the Czech Republic. And this year, we'll be seeing new furniture ranges, five new suites, customer forums, display investments and the launch of wet rooms.

All this great stuff has happened and, yes, we do supply Tesco and Wickes as well, but not with the Balterley brand. They do have some components from Balterley, but they do not have Balterley.

Balterley dealers are growing and they are making money out of the brand. The more we invest, the more they sell and the more money they make - it's a win-win situation.

Paul Jenkinson, the managing director of our independents division, will be calling Roger personally (and not from an ivory tower!) to show him how he can share in the Balterley success story.

In fact, our Balterley team are so convinced that they can help Roger, that anything he has on display or puts on display will be fully refunded if he is not entirely satisfied with the results.

And if there are any other independents out there who want to jump on board, send me an email and we will make contact immediately.
