KBB BIRMINGHAM PREVIEW: Snapshot
15 February 2010

Saffet Kalender, managing director of Aeon and Ultraheat

Q What are you doing at the kbb Birmingham show?
A We will be present with our full sales team. This show will be our third; in the previous two shows almost 70% of our customers visited our stand and we had the opportunity to show them the new products. Also, kbb Birmingham is the event at which we generate the largest number of leads and new customers so, in common with previous years, we will be launching four new designs.

Q How's business?
A We have managed to increase our sales during the past 18 months of recession and we are expecting even better growth in the forthcoming months and years.

Q Score out of 10 your confidence in the industry's performance over the next 12 months.
A I would say that it is seven. There is a growing optimism and confidence in the customers as they are starting to order bigger stock quantities. We have come out of the recession stronger. This has had a positive impact on the opinions our customers have of the way we run our business.

Q Has the downturn changed the way consumers approach buying kitchen/bedroom/bathroom products?
A There has been no slowdown on high-priced products.

Q Is kbb Birmingham a fresh start for the industry?
A This show is taking place right at the start of the upturn and I am curious to see how this will affect it. I know from the organiser's newsletters that applications to exhibit at the show have intensified in recent weeks. This is a clear indication of optimism.

Q What products have stood out for you since the last show?
A In particular, I would say shower enclosures and factory-fitted complete bathrooms.
