Sink manufacturer Carron Phoenix has announced that it is ending 50 years of manufacturing stainless steel sinks in its Falkrik facility, by moving production to Europe.
Parent company Franke Kitchen Systems Group has made the decision after a review of manufacturing strategy which will see Carron Phoenix focus on the production of composite products.
Stainless steel sink production will be relocated ot other European manufacturing plants within the group. The company says the reorganisation affects less than 20 staff who will all be offered the chance to move elsewhere within the composite sink production facility. No redundancies are anticipated.
Neil Clark, Carron's sales and marketing director, said: "The realignment of our manufacturing activities consolidates the Falkrik site's position within the future plans of the group. We are excited about the modernization of our stainless steel sink offer and I am confident that our customers will really like the improvements to the range."
There is particular historical significance to this move, Carron Phoenix first started stainless steel sink production in 1960 and celebrated 250 years of working with metal from making cannons, flat irons, fireplaces, cast iron bath and range cookers through the years.
