Wolseley, the plumbing giant with a portfolio that includes BCG, Bathstore, Plumb Center, has a new UK managing director. 

Steve Ashmore, 45, joined Wolseley in 2005 and UK brand development director, and went from there to MD of the UK 'Lightside' businesses of Plumb Center, Parts Center, Unifix and BCG. 

Since 2008 he has been UK MD of the 'Heavyside' businesses of Build Center, Drain Center, Brandon Hire and Encon. His previous experience includes over 11 years with logistics company Exel. Ashmore will report to Wolseley chief executive Ian Meakins. 

"Steve brings a wealth of sector and international experience having undertaken a number of leadership roles both within Wolseley but also with Excel, working with leading international brands running their logistics and supply chain activities,"

Meakins said. "His track record on improvement of business performance of the Heavyside division is impressive and we are delighted to welcome him as UK managing director."
