Stand strong |
Back |

I have just read Peter Hill's blog and I must say this man talks a lot of sense.
It's refreshing to hear, as it's something I come up against on a weekly basis. I work for a family run company in the channel islands that's been around for over 30 years and design bedrooms, bathrooms and kitchens. We all work extremely hard coming up with both hand drawn designs as well as CAD and like to think that not only are we professional we try and create a design that is also personal to the client.
Therefore when we are faced with a client asking 'why can't we take the plans?' our argument is the same as Peter Hill's. We also work alongside some interior designers and we explain that they charge for their opinions even when we do the actual design for the client.
In these times of recession it's a harder argument to make as the public can also be extremely rude and offensive and use bullying tactics like 'you clearly don't need the buisiness' and 'I can
always go somewhere else'. But I say stand strong, if they are serious customers and we are as professional as always they will buy.
Thanks again Peter Hill, it's good to know there are like-minded individuals out there.
