Aqualux MD leaves after less than year

Apr Kevin Hill former Managing Director Aqualux
Kevin Hill, the MD of shower enclosure specialist Aqualux, has left the company just nine months after joining.

In a short statement, parent company AFG said he had left to "pursue other interests". Operations director Mike Heath has stepped into the managing director's position.

More details are sketchy, however in an interview with kbbreview in December 2010, Hill made it clear that he saw Aqualux as a company that needed significant changes.

His immediate priority, he said, was to improve customer service: "There are certain things you don't want to wash in public, but I think it would be ridiculous and potential duplicitous of us as a business if we didn't acknowledge publicly what everybody who deals with us knows, and internally people are aware of. The key thing is we need to put it right."

When asked why he thought AFG had hired him he said: "I wouldn't want to set any hairs on ened in the sense of me having a big axe. I have a background in process and business improvement, in turnaround, but I don't want to spook the horses too much."

Hill has more than 20 years' experience in the building products sector and has held senior positions with several blue chip companies including Baxi, Pilkington and Myson. Before Aqualux he was MD at door and window specialist John Fredericks.

Aqualux was acquired by Swiss Group AFG in October 2007, joining brands such as Kermi in the company. That followed three years after a management buyout triggered by the administration of previous parent company BHD Group.
