LEC caught up in Beko fire drama |

A LEC fridge-freezer is also being recalled with the same fault as the Beko models that have caused 20 fires in London alone - injuring 16 people, one fatally.
It is understood that the LEC TF2304 model in white was made by Beko between January 2004 and October 2006, before the current owner GDHA bought the brand. It has since been removed from the company's range.
None of the fires have been caused by the LEC fridge-freezer, however it does contain the same defrost timer mechanism that has caused the Beko fires.
David Garden, commercial director for Lec and GE, said: "Earlier this year we identified a potential safety issue with the defrost timer on the now obsolete Lec TF2304 fridge freezer. Since identifying the issue we have been working closely with Trading Standards and the retailers who sold the products in 2006 to enable us to locate the affected units and complete a simple modification to the appliance.
"We take product safety extremely seriously and would like to reassure our customers that this issue only relates to the TF2304 fridge freezer - a product that was inherited and subsequently deleted from our range following Glen Dimplex Home Appliances' acquisition of the brand in 2006."
