Time for some new suppliers... |

Retailer and designer Chris Etheridge takes a previous blogger to task on his supplier complaints...
The blog from Richard Singleton of Warwickshire Kitchen Design made me laugh. I think he needs to take a long hard look at his suppliers and have a bit of a shake up!
First he says he was let down by fitted furniture supplied in the wrong Egger board by a factory. OK, so this does on the odd occasion happen, and if it means the job is delayed then sometimes there is not much you can do about it. What matters is that when mistakes happen, the supplier pulls out all the stops to rectify it, and if they don't then they don't deserve the business.
He also says £3,700 worth of his quartz was found to be faulty and that he had to reimburse his customer. Again, this can happen, but I'm not sure why the customer had to be reimbursed fully? Surely it should have been up to the quartz fabricator to replace the faulty worktops FOC? If they haven't,
I'm not sure why he is using them? The only inconvenience this should cause to the customer is having to wait a day for the worktops to be replaced, and this does not warrant a full reimbursement.
He goes on to complain about kitchen furniture supplied without the drawers and runners fitted. Again it's a case of how quickly the supplier rectifies the issue, although it sounds like poor service to me and not a supplier I would use.
Then he mentions laminate worktops delivered to site without the edging strip, and the upstand being the wrong colour. Sounds like complete c**k up and again not a supplier I would be using time and time again.
As for the six-week lead time quoted on handles, I don't think that's unreasonable. If you are well prepared and order the handles in advance then six weeks is a standard lead time for most kitchens. If it's a special circumstance then I'm sure there are many other suppliers out there that can provide a very similar handle, just go to the client, explain the situation and choose an alternative, it doesn't seem that hard to me.
And a 25% failure rare on LED lights? Why the hell do you keep buying them then?!
