Home Décor acquires Optiplan and Manor

Bedroom furniture manufacturer Home Décor has acquired Optiplan Kitchens and the Manor Cabinet Company.

The company said that the move would allow it to further integrate into the KBB consumer and trade markets.

Optiplan and Manor will merge to form a separate kitchen business from Home Décor.

Optiplan is a UK kitchen retailer selling handmade kitchens from a network of showrooms across the South-East. Manor designs and manufactures bespoke kitchens, which are sold through Optiplan showrooms, Manor’s retail outlets and direct to architects and house builders.

The new group will be led by Home Décor chief executive Max Crosby-Browne (pictured). Home Décor’s commercial director Mark Gledhill has been appointed sales and marketing director of the new kitchen businesses.

Crosby-Browne said: “This acquisition is a hugely exciting move for Home Décor and an important strategic step in achieving our growth plans. We will now have two distinct business units, which together can offer customers a more integrated KBB offering. The three businesses are a great fit in terms of culture, product offering and market sectors.”

Optiplan’s directors Gareth Jenkins and Bernard Deasy and Manor directors Terry McPartlan and Irene Smith will stay on in the short-term to help oversee the integration of the businesses before retiring.

Optiplan MD Jenkins said: “The Optiplan board has been considering various future options for the company and believe that the deal reached with Home Décor is a very positive one for our people, our customers and for the continued success of the business. Our focus is now on working in partnership with the Home Décor management team to ensure a smooth integration over the coming weeks and months.”

Manor’s McPartlan added: “Manor and Optiplan have been working in partnership for over 20 years, so it seemed like a natural step for the two companies to merge as part of the Home Décor acquisition. We have been hugely impressed with Home Décor and believe Manor will continue to go from strength to strength under the new ownership.”

With the acquisitions, Home Décor expects a global combined turnover of £50 million and employs around 350 staff. The company said it expected no redundancies or office closures as a result of the deal.
