Canburg boss Leo Caplan leaves firm

Leo Caplan (pictured) has stepped down from his role as chief executive of Canburg and has left the company, the firm said.

The parent firm of Smallbone of Devizes and Mark Wilkinson Furniture said: “Leo Caplan has left his role as chief executive officer and the company.

“The board acknowledged the contribution that Leo Caplan has made to the company over the past nine years.”

But the firm would not comment further on Caplan’s sudden departure.

It said Ian Gray would take up the role of executive chairman.

“Ian advises companies on business and strategy development. Over the past 20 years, he has provided high-level counsel to UK companies across a range of industry sectors, including distribution, retail and food production,” Canburg said.

Gray is currently chairman of Avicenna Holdings Ltd, a UK pharmacy support group, and chairman of Atlantic Productions Limited, a factual documentary film company.

Gray said: “I am excited to be a part of such a great British business. We are leaders in the design and manufacture of luxury and bespoke cabinetry, produced in England and made by skilled artisans.

“The business currently has the largest order book in our history, at £45 million, reflecting our success not only in the UK, but around the world and particularly in the prestigious New York residential developer market“.
