Häcker makes biggest investment in history in new hi-tech factory

Häcker said it is building another plant to make its “high-quality” kitchen furniture in Ostercappeln-Venne, close to Osnabrück, and is recruiting to fill 450 new roles to service it.

Häcker said it will be a “future-oriented” productions and logistics concept set over 215,000sq m very close to its headquarters in Rödinghausen and puts the firm in a good position to achieve “envisaged sales growth” over the next few years.

It said it has already started to recruit for positions in logistics, production, machine operation, truck drivers and dispatchers.

“The new building in Ostercappeln-Venne gives us the opportunity to set up state-of-the-art production flows based on digitised processes,” said Dirk Krupka, Häcker managing director of technology.

More than half of Häcker’s suppliers are located within a radius of less than 50km, so ensuring maximum supply-chain integration.

“One of Häcker Küchen’s main strategies is Made in Germany and will continue to secure jobs in the region,” said Jochen Finkemeier, Häcker owner and managing director.

The second extension of Häcker’s headquarter building was completed over the summer. It now is a total if 7, 500sq m and extends over four floors. The building includes a 1,000sq m training centre, called the Häcker Campus.

“It is our responsibility to operate sustainably with what already exists. At the same time, the foundations for further growth must be laid. Our investments and projects are the testimony to our commitment,” said Finkemeier.

Häcker reported record sales of €553 million (£490m) for 2017 , up 8% year-on-year against a tough trading backdrop.
