| Fired Earth wins sustainability prize | |
| 02 July 2009 Fired Earth, the premium tile, kitchen and bathroom retailer and supplier, has won a prestigious sustainability award thanks to its ambitious recycling targets. The company, part of Aga Rangemaster, beat 16 other entrants to pick up the Oxfordshire Waste Partnership Sustainability Award at the 2009 Oxford Business Awards. The title reflects Fired Earth's 86% recycling target, as well as new measures introduced to boost its environment credentials. These included eco-friendly packaging in the warehouse and delivery drivers being urged to bring packaging back from customers and shops to avoid wastage. Rob Whitaker, Fired Earth's head, said: "We're delighted to have received this award because it recognizes all the hard work put in by the environmental team at Fired Earth, It also illustrates perfectly the company's commitment to sustainability and the planet." Fired Earth now has more than 60 stores across several countries and is based in Adderbury, Oxfordshire. It celebrates its 25th anniversary this year. Last month Charlie Smallbone joined the company to help boost its kitchen offer. | |
