Just a few guidelines to help you on your way

 

Make sure your photos show as much as possible of your showroom or your design project. The more the judges can see the more informed their opinion. Many entries are rejected simply because they can't see enough.

Showroom pictures need to give an idea of the whole layout, not just detail shows of the products. Remember that the judges are looking for an idea of the customer's journey through the store.

Remember to include plenty of picture showing as much detail as possible. Two photos aren't enough to get a good impression - especially for the designer categories.

Include a detailed floorplan with your design project pictures or showroom layout. It really helps the judges to visualise the plans and put your photographs in context.

You only have a limited amount of words, 1,000 maximum, to get across your design or business. Don't waste them with superlatives, use bullet points to highlight key facts such as turnover, project budget, staff numbers and details of client briefs.

There are no limits to the number of categories you can enter. If you have entered the Showroom Award, there really isn't that much more work involved in putting together a Master Retailer entry as well.

If you're uncomfortable with giving out specific financial details, use percentages instead. For instance "turnover has increased by 32% in two years" or "profits have gone up by over 18% as a result of the showroom makeover".

Size isn't important. The biggest kitchens and bathrooms aren't automatically better than the smallest ones. Judges are looking for how well the space has been used, how problems have been solved and how the room is laid out. Look out for the most interesting projects, not the biggest or most expensive.
