What Michelle says:

“I pushed the boundaries with this design and used things that would not normally be considered for such a small space, such as large dark tiles, and dividing the narrow floor space up with different coloured tiles. I squeezed out space architecturally. These elements helped me to create the unique spa ambience that was desired by the client and spaciousness that you would not have expected.”

PROJECT COST: PRODUCTS: £7,678, INSTALLATION £14,098

The brief:

Michelle had previously worked on this 170-year-old home over a period of several years, having already designed the architectural elements in the adjacent rooms of this shower area. A leak meant this room, an en suite to a guest bedroom, needed stripping right back to the brickwork and starting again. The brief was to create a new en-suite wet room with a contemporary spa feel that would complement the adjacent bedroom. Uniquely, the client also wanted to add a wine cellar to the space and have a hand shower so it could also be used to bathe the dog.

PROJECT COST: PRODUCTS £12,010, INSTALLATION £4,575 EX VAT

The brief:

When the clients purchased this 1980s Barratt conversion it was still in its original interior state and specification. The client wanted a ‘five-star hotel abode’ feel and were very open to ideas and materials, not defining how they really wanted the space apart from having an ‘egg’ bath and restricting Melanie to a budget. The property was stripped back to its core, internal partitions were demolished and rebuilt and the floors were solid concrete, meaning a suspended timber floor was created to allow for underfloor heating and drainage flow from the shower floor.

PROJECT COST: £35,000

The brief:

Max’s client has a 10-year-old, two bedroom apartment in Surrey and wanted the bathroom completely revamped taking into account the adjoining bedroom. She wanted the large bath removed and a walk-in shower installed. Part of the brief specified no full-height tiling, as the client felt it was too encroaching. The brief was also clear that natural, earthy colours, were important in the overall colour scheme. Max rejigged the entire layout of the two rooms. This process included halving the depth of a fitted wardrobe to allow for storage in the bathroom on the other side of the wall.

The brief:

Kelvin and Kate are a professional couple living in a Grade II-listed Georgian house dating back to 1822 in the heart of Worcester City. They have one large family bathroom for them and their two young children and the room was impractical for family use, outdated and suffered from an uneven floor, rising damp and extreme cold. The couple have very opposing tastes so Lindsay needed to try and fulfil a very diverse list of preferences. Kelvin likes clean, smooth, minimalist, modern surfaces and a monochrome palette. Kate on the other hand loves all things ornate and elaborate, with an eye for detail and a love of texture and colour.
