What Tim says:

“I saved money on the furniture, by having it made from painted MDF while still managing to fit in with the design of the beading detail on the window seat. The overall feel of the room is lovely and fresh, individual and interesting while still balanced visually and physically. At first my clients were worried about the dark grey, but they are very happy that I pushed them out of their comfort zone and said no to beige.”

The brief:

Tim’s clients, a young stylish couple, wanted to create an eclectic and individual master en suite for their Georgian town house located in Bristol. The clients were clear that the design should retain the feel of their grand home but didn’t want it to look boring or overly classic. Part of the client brief included a request to keep the original cast iron bath - a 1,950mm, traditional roll-top model. A large walk-in shower and double basin also featured on the wish list along with a desire for lots of clever storage ideas and a make-up vanity area.

The brief:

The clients wanted to reconfigure the layout of their existing bathroom to create a larger shower area, and make more efficient use of the under 4sqm space. In addition, the couple who owned the house were reaching their 60s and wanted to ensure that the bathroom would be safe and easy to use in years to come. However, being design-conscious, they did not want to compromise design for safety and wanted a minimalist, sleek and unfussy look, with great day and night lighting as the room had no windows. However, they were open to using unusual materials to add a touch of luxury.

PROJECT COST: £14,750

The brief:

Mr and Mrs Sproul live in a threebedroom town house in Worcestershire, with their two children Daniel and Georgia. They approached Sarah to redesign their daughter Georgia’s bathroom as she was turning 18 and felt she needed something more grown-up. The bathroom is small and rectangular with no natural light. Georgia’s wish list asked for it to be a timeless, ‘girly boudoir’ with bold colour, eclectic design, mirrors and a high-output radiator. Being small, the bathroom would need enough clever storage to house items for everyday use, without cluttering the small space.

The brief:

Alison’s clients live in a five bedroom detached 1830s house located in the centre of Cheltenham Spa. They have a very good eye for design, and this flair can be seen throughout the rest of their house. They expressed a keenness for pink, a splash of which was included in every room. The bathroom was to be no exception as they wanted to carry this theme through. The main requirement was to make the main bathroom bigger as they needed a substantial separate shower and a large bath and they were happy for Alison to look at moving existing walls and doors.
