First SCALA home appliances forum a success

The first meeting of the SCALA Supply Chain Best Practice Forum for home appliances has been heralded as “very positive” and “a great opportunity to meet other supply chain and logistics professionals”.

The forum complements SCALA’s long-standing and highly successful Grocery Best Practice Forum, where companies such as Unilever, PepsiCo and Heinz are regular attenders.

The first forum for home appliances was attended by Dyson, HoMedics, Hoover Candy, Kärcher, Meyer Group, Spectrum Brands and Ultimate Products, with De’Longhi and Groupe SEB having committed to attend the next meeting in September.

The forum meets quarterly and is aimed at allowing participants to share industry best practice and seek opportunities for learning and collaboration. Top-level guest speakers present at the forum and there is an annual benchmarking study.

At the end of the initial meeting of the home appliance forum, all attendees agreed that the meeting had been informative and valuable.

Chief operating officer at Kärcher UK, Mark Venner, said: “The SCALA Best Practice Forum introduction day was a really positive first meeting and a great opportunity to meet with other supply chain and logistics professionals. I am confident this group will go from strength to strength and facilitate continuous improvements in the supply chain across our industry.”

Senior partner at SCALA, Phil Reuben, said: “The Forum represents a real opportunity to drive improvement and promote collaboration across the home-appliance industry. The success over seven years of the Grocery Best Practice Forum will, I am sure, be replicated in the appliance sector.”

SCALA will also be launching a forum for retailers in the autumn.
