‘Have your say on our future,’ urges KBSA

KBSA corporate chair Malcolm Scott (pictured) has called on members to have a say in the future of the association following its appointment of former BSH CEO Uwe Hanneck.

Hanneck was brought in as a consultant to the KBSA in December 2015 to help devise its long-term strategy following the retirement of chief executive Graham Ball last summer.

Scott said: “The Retail Members made a shrewd move when appointing Uwe Hanneck as a consultant to give guidance on the future direction to take the Association for the benefit of its members.

“While not giving any specific advice, I think it is important to ask members to take the opportunity provided by the appointment of Uwe to make their ideas and views about the future of the association known so that they can play a part in building a better association.”

Scott went on to explain that there are no “taboo subjects” and the main question the association needs to consider is, ‘What do kitchen specialists need from their trade association?’

Hanneck retired from his position at BSH at the end of 2010. He has chaired the KBB NTG, as well as WEEE producer compliance scheme Repic and white goods manufacturers association Amdea. He currently serves on the advisory board of German Industry UK.

  • In other news The KBSA has predicted full order books for the first three months of 2016 for many of the trade associations members.

National chair Tina Riley said: “Last year ended well even though we did not see the explosion of money coming into home improvements predicted from the changes in pensions legislation. Consumer spending remained steady despite the overall mood of austerity and we anticipate that we will see a similar pattern this year.”
