Howdens sees solid revenue performance

Howdens Joinery Group has reported ‘solid performance’ in the second half of 2016 to date.

Between June 11 and October 29, total revenue increased by 4.1%. Howdens said this was achieved in the face of “toughening comparators” and “softer trading conditions”.

The first 44 weeks of 2016 saw total revenue increase 6.3%, rising 4% on a same depot basis.

Since the release of its 2016 half-yearly report in July (24 weeks to June 11), when it showed a profit of £74.7 million on sales of £518.9m, the company has opened 10 new depots, resulting in 20 new depots in the UK so far this year, bringing the total to 639.

Howdens said it is on track to meet expectations for the full year, which analysts have predicted profit before tax to reach between £218 million to £244m.

The group will release its 2016 preliminary results on February 23.
