Lakes Bathrooms launches low-iron glass

UK-based shower specialist Lakes Bathrooms has launched PureVueHD, a low-iron glass, that will be offered as standard on its shower enclosures, doors and bath screens.

Thanks to the minimal iron content, says the manufacturer, PureVueHD glass appears clear rather than having the green tinge of standard glass.

Lakes Bathrooms claims that low-iron glass can cost up to 50% more, due to the higher grade of silica that it uses. However, the company said it would supply it as standard on its Classic and Coastline collections, without incurring a price increase.

The PureVueHD glass will not be included in its Mirror range.

Managing director Robin Craddock said: “When you see this ultra-clear glass next to ordinary products, the difference is startling and we know that consumers will want the clarity of PureVueHD low-iron glass when they see how stark the contrast is. To ensure that this choice is an effortless one, we are making the bold move of introducing it as standard, by funding the incremental cost ourselves. It’s part of the value that we offer and should be enjoyed by everyone.”
