Smeg names SeeSaw as charity of the year

Italian appliance manufacturer Smeg has named Oxfordshire-based bereavement charity SeeSaw as its charity of the year.

Every year Smeg UK in Abingdon names a local charity or national cause that the whole company supports.

Smeg said it chose SeeSaw as it demonstrated the company’s dedicated passion and excitement for supporting the local community.

So far, Smeg has raised £1,000 for the charity from its annual raffle and Christmas jumpers days.

SeeSaw provides first-hand and face-to-face support to children and families dealing with loss or grief. It has supported more than 4,300 children, young people and families and has just eight staff and 12 volunteer support workers.

Last year, it was recognised for its work with the 2016 GSK Impact Award.

Smeg HR director Ali Rennie said: “We’re delighted to be working with such a fantastic local cause, which provides great support at a time when children need it most. We’re really looking forward to getting the whole team involved with the charity, via volunteer work such as toll bridge collections and marshalling, through to local events such as Bike Oxford and the Oxford half marathon.”

SeeSaw corporate fund-raiser Jane Elliot commented: “We are absolutely thrilled to be joining forces with Smeg. As a relatively small charity, it is a great privilege to have the opportunity to work alongside such a prestigious company.”

  • Smeg has also released two new brochures, which distinguish the built-in range from the freestanding ranges. It has also produced a standalone brochure for its Dolce Stil Novo range. These publications feature more than 950 products across 12 categories.
