The 1810 Company freezes prices for second year to help retailers

Sink-and-tap firm The 1810 Company has said current trade prices will not rise in 2019 to support retailers in a challenging business environment.

With cost inflation on the rise, consumer confidence fragile and the risks presented by Brexit all piling pressure on showrooms, the Flintshire-based company has said it has a “duty” to support its customer base.

“Despite there being uncertainty over Brexit, retailers are being hit with speculative price increases from their main suppliers,” said managing director Garth Williams.

“I feel we have a duty to support our customer base even though due to a weakening pound, this will inevitably hit our bottom line.”

The company said it was the second year in a row that it had not increased prices.

Williams added: “We are aware that retailers are being hit with price increases from all directions and, although the sink and tap may be a small part of the overall kitchen cost, we understand that every little helps. We recognise that we need to continue to support our independent retailers as much as we possibly can.”
