Majority of KBB retailers report customers are spending more

More than three-quarters (77%) of KBB retailers have said their average order value has gone up over the past 12 months, according to the latest kbbreview survey.

The kbbreview biennial State of the Industry Survey saw that only 18% reported their orders had remained the same value, while just 5% said their values had decreased.

Despite the rollercoaster ride of the past year with Covid restrictions, shipping issues and Brexit, most KBB retailers have seen their order books fill up.

The survey also saw customers increasing their budgets in the middle-market and premium segments for both kitchens and bathrooms.

Just under half of the kitchens sold were between £20,000 and £40,000, 16% of kitchens were over £40,000, and nearly a third were between £10,000 and £20,000. At the same time, budgets for bathrooms remained much lower, with two-fifths under £10,000 and a half between £10,000 and £20,000.

Order books remained full, with precisely 60% of retailers booked for between two and four months ahead. However, this was a drop from 2019, when that figure was 79%. The overall trend has shifted up, though. In 2019, 20% of customers ordered just one or two months ahead, which has fallen to 14%, with just over a third (34%) ordering five months or more in advance.
