Expert predicts key flooring trends for 2017

Vinyl flooring manufacturer Moduleo has predicted some key flooring trends for 2017.

UK and Eire managing director David Bigland tipped geometric designs as the top trend going into 2017 and added that they had already seen a huge rise in demand

“Geometric flooring offers a striking, contemporary finish which takes centre stage to provide a creative and sleek ambience,” said Bigland. “This look is extremely versatile and works well in most rooms, especially living rooms, kitchens and bathrooms.”

Bigland also anticipated that the popularity of grey tones would continue to grow throughout 2017 and claimed that it has been the ‘go-to’ choice in recent months.

“The look is traditional with a modern twist, and is ideal for creating a comfortable and welcoming environment all year round,” he said.

Despite these new trends emerging, Bigland claimed that classic interior designs are here to stay.

“As vintage and retro trends continue to dominate the housing market, traditional woods are certainly still fashionable for the home.”

Textures were also in the frame to be a big trend next year, with interior design continuing to be inspired by the ‘great outdoors’. In particular, Bigland anticipated that natural wood-effect products would continue to be in demand throughout the year.

“As consumers look to create a warm and cosy feeling throughout their homes, textured rustic finishes will be on-trend for areas of relaxation, such as the living room and the bedroom,” said Bigland.

Finally, with Moduleo reporting a surge in customers looking to make a statement with their flooring, he believed that creating a bespoke look would continue to gain momentum in the coming year.

“Creating a truly unique look is becoming a bigger priority and next year, as the catalogue of products on the market continues to develop, consumers will be faced with more options than ever before – making a bespoke look much more accessible to the masses,” Bigland concluded.
