Martin Gill leaves Canburg

Martin Gill has departed from his role as Canburg chief operating officer after 18 months in the job.

Gill (pictured) joined the company in April 2016 and was brought in to help owner and chief executive Leo Caplan sell the business and take over as chief executive upon completion of the sale.

However, thanks to a “fantastic” trading period Caplan has had a “change of heart” and decided not to sell the business.

Prior to Canburg, Gill worked for German kitchen manufacturer Poggenpohl for 15 years. He was appointed Poggenpohl UK managing director in 2001 before becoming head of global retail in 2007 and then global sales director in 2012.

Prior to this, he spent 11 years at Magnet, which is part of the Nobia Group.

“I have gained an affection for both the Smallbone and Mark Wilkinson brands and wish the team at Canburg continued success, however, it’s time for me to embrace a new challenge,” Gill said.
