Symphony donates £2,500 to help global housing charity

Yorkshire-based KBB manufacturer Symphony has pledged to donate £2,500 to support its sales director in his bid to raise funds for the Habitat for Humanity Great Britain charity.

Symphony sales director Alan Kinnes will be working with volunteers from Miller Homes when they go to Malawi for the charity to build homes for families living in poor conditions.

Kinnes has set himself a target of £10,000 for his fund-raising project. He passed the £5,000 mark in March and Symphony’s £2,500 will move him closer to his goal.

Miller Homes is a key client for Symphony and has been on a mission to tackle the global housing crisis since 2016.

Kinnes said of his involvement in the project: “I lost my wife and soulmate last year and I wanted to set myself a unique goal to challenge myself – one I know she would be proud of. When I was approached by Miller Homes to come aboard and donate my time, it’s such a worthwhile cause that I jumped at the chance to be a part of it.

“I’d initially set myself a target to raise £5,000, but the donation from Symphony has meant that that I’ve already surpassed my target by a significant amount and I can’t thank the company enough. I’m now going to push myself and try raise £10k before I go to Malawi.”

Commenting on Kinnes’s undertaking, Richard Bunton, managing director of Symphony Group, said “Habitat for Humanity is an important global charity with a vision for everyone to have a safe place to call home and we’re pleased to be supporting such a worthwhile cause.

“We were thrilled when Alan decided that he wanted to get involved with such as fantastic project, and we’re pleased to think that our donation will make an impact to those who need it most.”
