Team Hettich aims high for much-missed colleague

Eleven staff from Hettich UK have set themselves the challenge of climbing the highest peaks in England and Wales in a day to honour the memory of their colleague Helena Grant who died last year. They will be joined by her daughter Mel McDermott.

The team plans to tackle the ascent of England’s Scafell Pike on the morning of Saturday, June 21, and then move on to attempt the summit of Snowdon in Wales before dark.

Matt Fowler, Hettich UK area sales manager for the Midlands, said: “Helena was our receptionist and a beloved colleague to us all. She was with Hettich UK for 23 years and suffered with pancreatic cancer for some time.

Left to right: Mavis Waters, Joanne Tonge, Tony Turner, Gwynneth McKean, Glynn Proctor and David Jones

“We decided on the Twin Peaks in Helena’s memory and to raise money for Pancreatic Cancer Research Fund. It’s a challenge which suits a diverse group of people and hopefully will be seen as a worthwhile activity to encourage people to give generously.”

Hettich said that fund-raising has begun well, but it still has a way to go to hit its target of £2,500 for the Pancreatic Cancer Research Fund. Donations will be gratefully received at https://www.justgiving.com/companyteams/HettichUK-HelenaGrant

The team from Hettich that will be attempting the Twin Peaks Challenge consists of: Gary Birth (ASM South West), Lee Clark (ASM Yorkshire), Matthew Fowler (ASM Midlands), David Jones (key accounts manager), Mel McDermott (Helena’s daughter), Gwynneth McKean (internal sales manager), Phil O’Malley (sales director), Glynn Proctor (warehouse assistant), David Smith (ASM Scotland and Northern Ireland), Joanne Tonge (sales administrator), Tony Turner (warehouse manager) and Mavis Waters (sales administrator).
