Trend COO breaks records in new channel

Trend Transformations’ chief operating officer Danny Hanlon and his team have swum the Dál Riata channel in a world-record time.

The route, spanning the 17-kilometre distance between Scotland and Ireland, was competed in six hours and 31 minutes, which was the quickest crossing since the challenge was first tackled in 1928. The team started in started from Mull of Kintyre and Hanlon and the relay team swam to Cushendun, Northern Ireland.

Hanlon said: “I’m so proud of what we achieved as a team and for having completed this challenge while also raising money for two local charities. This was certainly a personal milestone, the months of training can never prepare you for the toll the open water can take on your body, but the moral support of the team and our families make it worth every second – I would do it again, in a heartbeat!”

The swim was in aid of two charities ACT Alchemy Charitable Trust and Demelza Hospice Care for children that are based in Tunbridge Wells where Trend Transformations has its headquarters.

Jack Boyle, from the support team at Infinity Channel Swimming, said: “These four men have no idea how good they are – they made one of the toughest channels in the world look like a Sunday dip! They brought their A game from the get-go. On behalf of myself and Infinity, we couldn’t be happier for them and hoped they enjoyed celebrating their victory.”
