Wren continues expansion plans with two new showrooms

Hull-based retailer Wren Kitchens has strengthened its position in the UK with the launch of two new showrooms, despite ongoing market pressures from coronavirus.

Wren, which describes itself as ‘the UK’s number one kitchen retailer’, recently opened showrooms in Worcester and Wakefield, bringing its total number of UK stores to 94.

The launch of both new showrooms will also help boost employment in each of the local areas. The Wakefield store will generate 14 jobs, while the slightly larger Wakefield showroom will create 20 new positions.

Both stores are integral to Wren’s ambitious growth plans to extend its reach with more than 100 showrooms nationwide. Other confirmed new locations include Wolverhampton, Peterborough, Mansfield, Altrincham, Oldham, Greenwich, Northampton, Kings Lynn, Durham and Carlisle – one of which will be the 100th store, which is expected to open in September.

According to Wren, plans are already in place for growth beyond that number next year.

Meanwhile, Wren has been awarded the title of Project of the Year at the Real IT Awards 2020 for its dual-screen 3D planning technology that has been implemented throughout its showroom network.

The retailer beat off stiff competition from big names including McDonalds, Lookers PLC and The University of Oxford to be crowned winner at the virtual ceremony last month.

Craig Douglas, IT director Wren Kitchens commented: “Our customers love designing their dream kitchen. Based on their feedback, we found that the most exciting part for customers is seeing their kitchen brought to life in stunning 3D. By introducing this technology in our showrooms, we are creating the ultimate user experience and allowing the customer to help in the creation of their dream kitchen.

“With so many fantastic innovations being worked on throughout the business, it’s brilliant to see the team’s hard work being recognised within the industry by winning this award.”
