LAUFEN shower trays  – design freedom with a natural touch

As part of Laufen’s contemporary Pro collection, the Swiss bathroom company has recently added a new addition to the range; the Laufen Pro Marbond shower trays. Designed by Swiss designer Peter Wirz, the Laufen Pro range presents a versatile, yet intelligent design, combined with technological finesse, to deliver a timeless reverence with distinctive lines.

Marbond is a unique material, consisting of two layers, which are firmly bonded to one another and refined with a high-quality three-millimeter-thick Gel Coat Surface finish. The result is a high-quality mineral composite, robust material, which is anti-bacterial, easy to clean and resistant to chemicals and UV-resistant. Marbond’s fine surface texture is also resilient against temperature fluctuations and has a permanent pleasant and warm natural touch.

The exceptional, hard wearing material is therefore the perfect material to use for the new Laufen Pro shower trays, in-keeping with the collection’s distinctive design lines and technological detail. Durable, hygienic and easy to clean, the shower trays also help to prevent slipping. Available in over 30 standard sizes, Laufen can cut the shower trays during production to individual sizes, with seamless sealing at the cut surfaces. This material is also customisable, making it ideal for non-standard areas, such as custom fitting wet rooms or en-suites.

As the perfect solution for most bathroom environments, the shower trays can also solve and prevent hazards in the bathroom: Flush-with-the-floor installation eliminates steps and tripping hazards in the shower area and provides sure footing for the young and old – especially due to its anti-slip properties.

Thanks to the high quality of the Marbond material, walking on the mineral cast material feels considerably warmer and welcoming, than a shower tray made of alternative materials, for example steel enamel. As the material allows the finest corner radii and flat surfaces to be achieved, the shower trays fit perfectly into the tiling pattern and joins precisely with shower screens.

Furthermore, it is UV-resistant and resilient against temperature fluctuations, which means it permanently retains its original colour, is dimensionally stable and does not distort. Large damage to the surface can even be repaired using a maintenance kit. The fact that the surface is also antibacterial and easy to care for makes the shower surfaces a hygienic solution and easy to clean option for every shower area, whether at home, in hotels or other public and semi-public sanitary facilities.

The ease of cleaning the shower trays is also attributable to the shape of their surface, which allows water to flow away optimally and not to accumulate anywhere. This includes a high-performance siphon that can cope with even large water flows (in accordance with EN 274-1). The drainage cover made of stainless steel matches the colour of the shower tray, is removable, so the siphon can be cleaned easily if necessary. The attention to detail is apparent from the integration of the cover which conveys a high-quality feeling underfoot. The shower trays with the fitting drainage covers are available in the colours matt white, light grey and anthracite, so the surface complements current bathroom ceramic colours.
