Roca London Gallery reopens to the public

Roca’s flagship showroom in London has reopened following the Covid lockdown. The Roca London Gallery will be welcoming the public on a three-days-a week basis.

The showroom reopened on September 8 after being closed six months ago on March 17, when the full lockdown restrictions came into force in England.

Gallery manager David Bromell said: “We are absolutely delighted to welcome people back into our space again. It was important to us that we could offer the same quality of experience to visitors as always, so I think we looked really hard at how we might do that.

“In recent weeks, we’ve extended the dates of our temporary exhibition Sea Change, which follows the critical world of flood-resilient architecture, and with a number of new products launched this year, we have also refreshed our displays to best reflect the latest innovations that our brands have to offer.

“We’ve followed the lead of a number of other exhibition spaces in London, easing back with a slightly reduced opening of three days per week, but expect to be back to our normal programme very soon.”

The Sea Change: Flood Resilient Architecture for the 21st Century exhibition has been extended until the end of the year. It explores how architects have been adapting designs to rising sea levels.

Bjarke Ingels Group’s flood defence project that doubles as a public park in Lower Manhattan is featured as part of the exhibition. As well as Zaha Hadid Architects’ sculptural Niederhafen River Promenade in Hamburg and Copenhagen-based practice SLA’s scheme whereby floodwater can be channelled through ‘blue-green’ infrastructure solutions.

Visitors to the showroom will be asked to use hand sanitiser when entering the showroom, to wear facemasks and thanks to the spacious design and size of the showroom, Roca believes that social distancing will be easy to maintain.

The team will also be using a special anti-viral cleaning solution to clean the displays. Staff will follow a thorough hygiene routine when entering and leaving the space. Washroom facilities for guests will be open as normal.
