BCT appoints new commercial director

British Ceramic Tile (BCT) has appointed John Chater as its new commercial director.

Chater (pictured) will assume responsibility for the company’s sales, marketing, design and products development departments, with a focus on driving forward the company’s portfolio and brand across all markets.

He has spent the last 20 years working with large branded food businesses, such as Coca Cola, Refresco and Tulip, and has an “impressive” record of managing commercial and marketing teams and developing long-term strategic business goals.

He joins BCT from e-commerce operation Musclefood.

Chief executive Tony Taylor said: “John comes from the food industry and brings considerable expertise that will complement our existing skill set as we continue to grow our brand in 2018.”

Chater added: “It’s a great time to join the business with plenty of challenges and opportunities ahead. The company has some big goals to achieve in what is a challenging market, but our focus is firmly set on supporting our trade and retail partners to grow their share of the market, as well as continuing our mission to be the leading tile brand in the UK.”
