Amdea appoints new chairman

The Association of Manufacturers of Domestic Appliances (Amdea) has appointed Beko UK and Ireland managing director Teresa Arbuckle (pictured) as chairman.

She succeeds former Miele managing director Simon Grantham, who has moved to Panasonic. She will assume leadership of the association on April 2, becoming the second woman to hold the post.

Arbuckle brings 20 years of business experience with global, blue-chip companies and leading consumer brands, and joined Turkish appliance brand Beko in 2011.

Amdea claimed its membership is at an all-time high and has strong member involvement across critical topics like Brexit, evolving EU standards and regulation, the 2019 revision of energy labels and safety initiative Register My Appliance.

Arbuckle commented: “It is exciting to pick up the reins of Amdea at a time when our Register My Appliance safety initiative has been recognised as a world first. We will be looking to develop further programmes that illustrate our industry’s commitment to our UK customers and their safety, innovation in white goods, and continued trust in the appliance industry.”
