HPP adds Bushboard Options as it builds worktop business

HPP has added the full range of Bushboard Options laminate kitchen work surfaces to its portfolio of worktop brands, including Wilsonart, Egger and Aeon.

The firm, which aims to become a major worktops and accessories distributor, said it has already sent out 20 display stands to showrooms, a “good uptake in a short period of time”.

“We are delighted to be significantly expanding our work surfaces offer with the introduction of the Bushboard Options range,” said HPP purchasing director Alan Bolton.

“This represents a significant expansion of HPP’s distribution of work surfaces in the past few years, including the introduction of Egger products two years ago.

“We have been a distributor for Wilsonart worktops for some time, which is a brand that already resonates with our trade customers.

“Following Wilsonart’s acquisition of Bushboard at the end of 2016, we were asked if we’d be interested in becoming a Bushboard distributor.

“We were very interested, but we had to consider a number of questions, including whether we had enough storage space at our Oldham base to stock the full Bushboard Options range.

“Because HPP has seen strong growth in recent years, we had already taken a decision to build a new warehouse for further expansion. The new warehouse was completed earlier this summer, so we now have extra space.”

The new warehouse at its Oldham site is a 19,000sq ft building costing £2.5 million – HPP’s biggest investment to date. The firm also has a distribution centre in Sheffield.

Bolton added: “Because Bushboard is a premium brand, we also had to make sure it would fit with our other existing brands and distributorships, such as Egger, which is also a premium brand. We didn’t want to dilute our offer and wanted to ensure we would build HPP as a serious worktops distributor.”

Market research showing strong interest for the Bushboard Options range swung the pendulum for the doors and fittings specialist.

The laminate kitchen work surfaces come in 50 classic wood grain, stone, marble and granite designs, and nine surfaces. They have crisp Q3 or square edge profiles, come in lengths of 3m, 3.4m and 4.1m, thicknesses from 38mm to a slimline 22mm, and are available single and double post-formed.

The range has a lifetime product guarantee and three-year joint guarantee, when installed with Bushboard Complete adhesive.

Bolton and HPP’s managing director Keith Wardrope have visited Bushboard’s head office in Northamptonshire to discuss the distribution partnership, and the HPP customer sales team has also visited Bushboard for training.

Bolton said: “We’re really looking forward to an exciting new partnership with Bushboard, and seeing HPP become a major worktops and accessories distributor.

“Likewise, Bushboard is really delighted with what HPP can offer them with our marketing department, the HPP website and our range of brochures and product directories. There are many benefits we can offer Bushboard, so it really is a two-way partnership.”

HPP is headed by brothers Martin and Stephen Hill and managing director Keith Wardrope. It started in 1991 and now sells more than 6,000 products.
