Ex-sales director of Mereway joins new Smallbone owner

Graham Jones (pictured), the former sales and marketing director at Mereway Kitchens, has joined the new owner of Smallbone of Devizes and Mark Wilkinson Furniture in the same role.

Jones joins a team led by executive chairman Ian Gray, who was appointed in September 2018 amid a turbulent time for Canburg, the former owner of the luxury artisan British furniture brands.

Months later, the firm was sold for an undisclosed sum to a US investment company owned by a property tycoon Gary Barnett.

The new company is called SMWF Limited. It said it has two showrooms in London – in Knightsbridge and Holland Park, as well as a workshop and showroom in Devizes.

A number of the brands’ showrooms were closed last year as the old firm fell into financial dire straits.

Jones said that the business had “tremendous potential for success not only in the UK, but around the world, particularly in the USA where they already have established showrooms”.

“I am excited to be joining a company that includes much-loved, iconic British brands,” he said.

Gray said: “I am delighted to welcome Graham to SMWF. He has exceptional knowledge, sales skills and significant experience of the kitchen industry. I am confident he will be a great asset to the team.”
