BSH appoints new chief operating officer

BSH has appointed Silke Maurer to the role of chief operating officer (COO).

Maurer, who takes up her position on Friday March 1, will be responsible for manufacturing, innovation, corporate technology and global supply chain management.

She succeeds Michael Schöllhorn, who left the company at the end of January.

“We are very pleased that we can fill the position of the COO internally with Silke Maurer,” said Karsten Ottenberg, chairman of the board at BSH.

Maurer joined BSH Hausgeräte GmbH in 2016 as head of quality management and subsequently took over as head of corporate technology.

In this position, her responsibilities included the strategic planning for product development, manufacturing technologies and quality management. At the end of 2018, her area of responsibility was expanded to include the central area of corporate innovation.

Silke has a doctorate in mechanical engineering and has worked in various management positions in the automotive industry in Germany, the UK, the US and Italy.

Ottenberg said: “Silke has achieved a great deal in various functions since she joined BSH over two years ago.

“She has not only shown that she can inspire her employees, but is a win for all of us with her high level of expertise and experience. We in the board of management are very much looking forward to working with her.”
