Strong demand for UK shower specialists Merlyn and Triton helped to boost revenue for their owner Norcros over the 12 months to end of March.
In a trading update ahead of its full-year earnings report, Norcros said sales for its financial year would be around £331 million, up slightly more than 10% from the year before, despite “particularly challenging conditions” in the UK economy.
“Our performance continues to demonstrate the resilience of our group with its market-leading positions, well-established brands, superior product and service offer and strong financial position,” said Norcros chief executive Nick Kelsall.
He noted specifically the “strong performance” of electric shower specialist Triton and luxury shower enclosure firm Merlyn in spite of the rocky political and economic landscape triggered by the chaotic Brexit process.
Revenue from the firm’s UK business, which includes the above brands, as well as Vado, Croydex and Johnson Tiles UK, grew 13.6% on the previous year.
Kelsall added: “While market conditions are likely to remain challenging, the board is confident that these attributes, together with our very focused strategy, will continue to drive market outperformance, leading to further progress in the year ahead.”
Norcros also operates in South Africa under four brands, including a retail chain called Tile Africa and House of Plumbing.
The firm will report full-year earnings on June 12.
