Ideal Standard helps charity build homes in Malawi

Ashley Smith, sector marketing executive at Yorkshire-based bathroom manufacturer Ideal Standard, is joining a group of volunteers going to Malawi to help build homes for vulnerable families.

Smith is taking part in the Global Village Trip, organised by the Habitat for Humanity charity, supported by Miller Homes, which is one of Ideal Standard’s customers.

The Habitat for Humanity charity was established 40 years ago and works to provide homes, good quality toilets, health and well-being training and legal support for families in Malawi.

Smith will be joining Miller Homes chief executive Chris Endsor, along with 15 other volunteers, on the trip this month to the village of Salima to build homes for families living in substandard conditions.

Commenting on his participation, Smith said: “I was delighted to be asked to join Miller Homes and the other volunteers on this trip. We’ve always worked closely with Miller Homes and supported the incredible work it does for people who really need it the most, particularly those in developing areas.

“Without Miller Homes, this project wouldn’t be happening, so I’m really proud to be involved and part of a team that is making a huge difference to communities in Malawi. Providing families with somewhere they feel safe and secure is so important and I can’t wait to get started.”
