kbb Birmingham 2020: Winners of the kbb Innovation Awards announced

The winning products have been named in the kbb Innovation Awards 2020 for the judges’ and People’s choice categories.

The awards are part of kbb Birmingham and showcase solutions and inventive new products. The product that was chosen by the judges to win the Innovation Award was the Zero leak trap by Wirquin Neo. The trap is made for basins and sinks and designed with bi-injection technology. The washers are over-moulded onto the body to ensure that there is complete protection against leaks.

The People’s Choice Award was voted for by kbb Birmingham visitors via the show’s main app. The winner of this category was Kitchen Garden by Natufia Labs (pictured). Billed as the first fully integrated and automated hydroponic kitchen garden, the appliance automatically maintains things like light, pH, temperature and water levels. Designed for the interior, the need for pesticides, herbicides and fungicides is eliminated. Olivier Freymuth, regional manager at Natufia Labs said: “It’s tremendous to win as we need the exposure. These are all handmade units so there are many people behind the Kitchen Garden.”

“There is a sustainability message here that the world needs more home-grown appliances, or at the very least localised. Winning this award in the UK means that people are taking things like hydroponics more seriously.”

The other eight finalists that were shortlisted back in February are as follows:

  • Smart Quiz shower tray by Acquabella
  • Spazio cooker hood by Falmec
  • Airgap 6000 by Fluidmaster
  • Kinvaro T-Slim Flap System by Grass Movement Systems
  • Augmented Glass Skin by Mutaforma
  • Panorama Pro by Novy
  • Cube by Rotpunkt
  • The Dialog Oven by Miele

The judging panel was made up of leading professionals and industry experts from many different areas of the KBB sector, including: Amanda Hughes, experience centre manager at Blum, Andrew Davies, managing editor at Taylist Media, Colin Wong, kitchen designer, Richard Hibbert, managing director at KSL Sudbury and KBSA national chair and Andy Bishop, creative director of kbb Birmingham.

All shortlisted products will be on display for the duration of kbb Birmingham.
