Baumann group factories to remain open

The Baumann Group in Germany, parent company of kitchen brand Bauformat, has said it is still manufacturing and its factories remain open.

The company has implemented a shift system as a way to keep factory employees apart from each other. It added that no employee is obligated to work as safety is a priority.

The main problem the company has been facing is the variety of different regulations that apply in each country, so the company has had to be flexible in its delivery procedures.

Dirk Kleykens, Bauformat export manager for the UK, said: “Firstly, no Baumann Group employee is obliged to work – each person can decide for himself/herself as safety is our main priority in these challenging times. However, everyone is incredibly motivated and morale remains high. We are still manufacturing and are working to a shift system to minimise contact between factory employees.

“Logistics have been our biggest problem – not production. Every country has different rules and regulations and so we have to be extremely flexible in our delivery procedure in order to adhere to individual legislation.”

Kleykens added: “Many of our office workers are working from home. The Bauformat management team are in daily video conferences to ensure we are kept up-to-date with developments around the world and our customers are kept informed of any changes via a newsletter, which is sent out as often as required and has been welcomed by retailers worldwide. We are adapting our working environment constantly to keep ahead of the situation.”
