Homebase plans first new store for six years 

DIY chain Homebase has submitted a planning application to open a new 23,800sq ft store in Abingdon, Oxfordshire. 

The new store will open on the Fairacres Retail Park in late 2021 if planning permission is granted. 

The chain’s first new store in six years, it will include a large kitchen showroom where customers will be able to spend time with a design consultant to help turn their ideas into reality. 

The Abingdon store will also have a paint and decorating area, as well as a Bathstore area and some of the company’s newest ‘shop within a shop’ formats, such as Storage and More and Home Shop for home furniture and furnishings. 

The Homebase chain currently operates 155 stores nationwide and 16 standalone Bathstore outlets.
