Pronorm is investing in a new €15 million (£12.7m) kitchen production facility that will increase manufacturing capacity by 30% and help reduce UK lead times.
Work on the new 2,500 sq m plant has started at its headquarters in Vlotho, Germany, and is scheduled for completion in early 2022. New equipment will include a fully automated panel store, converting the entire production line to batch size one.
Pronorm says the extension will increase capacity from 30,000 kitchens a year to 40,000.
Richard Turner, Pronorm national sales manager for UK and Ireland, said: “This significant investment in our manufacturing facilities underpins Pronorm’s ongoing commitment to serving the UK market. The new extension will increase manufacturing capacity by 30%, improve our flexibility and will reduce customer lead times.
“The investment is part of our strategic planning to ensure we continue with the smooth and reliable supply of our products in a post-pandemic, post-Brexit environment, where our UK retail partners are experiencing high demand for our kitchens.”
The official ground-breaking ceremony was hosted by Pronorm’s joint managing directors Thorsten Gösling and Roger Klinkenberg, along with operations manager Gordon Henke and head of industrial engineering Sven Schröder. The mayor of Vlotho, Rocco Wilken, and other officials, also attended the ceremony.
