City Plumbing’s Parv Sangera on Women to Watch list

Parv Sangera, managing director of The Bathroom Showroom at City Plumbing, has been named one of the 100 Women to Watch for 2021 by the Cranfield School of Management.

Published alongside its annual analysis of the progress of women directors on the FTSE350 corporate boards, the Women to Watch list is intended to shine a light on the talent pool of women and provide a snapshot of some of those considered potential board members of the future.

Sangera started her career as a financial analyst for the Ford Motor Company and then moved to Sony. She then became a senior consultant for strategy and transformation at IBM Global Business Services, before joining Travis Perkins in 2016, where she spearheaded business transformation, introduced new products, established governance protocols and led multiple teams.

In her current role with City Plumbing, she is responsible for the growth and development of The Bathroom Showroom, overseeing and ensuring product availability, sales and excellent customer service and ensuring that the business goals are “centred around putting customers at the heart of every transaction”.

Commenting on her inclusion on the list, Sangera said: “I am very proud to be featured in the Cranfield School of Management 100 Women to Watch 2021 list. To be named alongside 99 other amazing and accomplished women is extremely humbling. No one’s journey is started or completed alone and I’ve been lucky to have some inspirational mentors, role models and supporters throughout my career. I’m looking forward to doing the same for our upcoming talent.”

Hilary Sears, the report’s author and visiting fellow of Cranfield School of Management, added: “Diversity in all its forms is increasingly on the agenda for forward-thinking businesses, and rightly so. As well as providing appropriate representation for an increasingly diverse workforce, it has been found that more diverse boards make better decisions.”

The Cranfield University Female FTSE Board Report revealed that some 21% of FTSE 100 companies had yet to meet the Hampton Alexander target of 33% women in boards by 2020.

City Plumbing is now part of the Highbourne Group, which is owned by HIG Capital. Travis Perkins Group completed the sale of the Plumbing and Heating business, including City Plumbing, to HIG Capital in September.
