Employee ownership for Claygate Distribution as it restructures for future growth

The owners of Claygate Distribution have rationalised its business structure by entering into an employee ownership trust agreement.

As part of this move, owners Mel and Andrew Streek aim to provide a senior management team structure to manage current business needs and provide a platform for future growth.

The staff of Claygate will be the beneficiaries of the new trust and the day-to-day running of the new senior management team, with three trustees appointed to safeguard the organisation and provide guidance for the directors. Andrew Streek will continue to provide guidance as a trustee.

The Streek brothers set up Claygate Distribution in Kent 35 years ago. Commenting on this latest move, they said: “We felt now was the right time to take a bold approach for the future of Claygate Distribution Ltd which we first set up in 1985.  The past few years have been very challenging for all businesses, but it has shown us that our management team and our staff are ready to take us to the next level.

“We have very experienced staff in all aspects of our business many of whom, have been with us from day one. Only a handful of firms have the confidence to embark on such a journey, but that has only been possible because of the depth of professional staff we have here at Claygate.”
