Taylor Howes Design in London has worked with with iconic brand AGA on the design and launch of a new-look cooker.
AGA rarely collaborates on its designs and the company described it as an exciting development.
The Knightsbridge-based luxury interior design studio worked with the cooker maker to produce a new-look AGA that launched this autumn as the brand celebrates its 100th birthday.
The new-look Taylor Howes-designed AGA will be finished in the design studio’s signature navy blue colourway with additional copper-coloured hardware. This will be the first time in AGA’s history that it has used this metal finish and it is intended to give the cooker a contemporary and elegant feel.
Taylor Howes chief executive and founder Karen Howes, said of the collaboration: “We’ve had it under wraps for so long, it’s hugely exciting to see it all come together. For me, an AGA is a quintessential part of an English home and in my house the AGA is the main element that attracts my family to spend time in the kitchen. It is beautifully designed and engineered and I love that it can sit in both a contemporary and
a traditional kitchen.
“The idea for the collaboration was born out of our wanting to create something fitting for both town and country living, and with the Taylor Howes colourway and particularly the new metal we’ve created something show-stopping.”
The Taylor Howes x AGA collaboration cooker is available on AGA 7 Series 100 and 150 models.
Speaking on behalf of AGA, Jenny Hyatt said: “We’re huge fans of the Taylor Howes style and the way Karen creates spaces that look fantastic but are also incredibly easy to live in, so when we saw Karen’s suggestions, we knew there was real synergy and that she inherently understands the AGA aesthetic. We’re thrilled with how the new AGA looks.”
AGA was taken over in 2015 by the Middleby Corporation, which is a global provider of commercial kitchen equipment to many of the world’s famous kitchens. Other brands under the Middleby umbrella include Viking, La Cornue and Novy.
