The finalists for the kbbreview Retail & Design Awards 2022 have been unveiled after weeks of difficult judging.
The full list is below and it’s an early Christmas present for Laings in Inverurie, which is nominated in three categories – Kitchen Retailer of the Year, Bathroom Retailer of the Year and Kitchen Showroom of the Year.
It’s also a good year all round for Scotland, with an impressive showing from Kitchens International, which is not only up against Laings in the Kitchen Retailer of the Year and Kitchen Showroom of the Year categories, but is also shortlisted in the New Bathroom Retailer of the Year award for its KI Bathroom Interiors business.
In the design categories, there are double celebrations for Chantel Elshout from her eponymous studio in Cirencester and Daniella Fantini from The Tap End in Pontyclun, near Cardiff. They are both finalists in two bathroom design categories.
And Sofia Bune Strandh from Sola Kitchens is also up for a unique double – her business is shortlisted for Kitchen Retailer of the Year and she is shortlisted in the Kitchen Designer of the Year: project cost £30,000-£50,000 category for a design she created for her most difficult customer – herself.
There is also the annual Special Achievement Award, but that will not be revealed until the evening of the awards event itself on March 7 at the Hilton Birmingham Metropole, alongside the kbb Birmingham exhibition.
“Well, this has been one of the most closely contested initial judging sessions I’ve seen,” said kbbreview managing editor Andrew Davies. “There were an awful lot of very close calls this time around, so huge congratulations to the finalists and commiserations to everyone else who entered.
“We really do appreciate the enormous effort everyone puts into their entries and it makes judging very difficult, so thank you all for your time.”
Now the next stage of judging kicks in – all the design finalists will be invited to present their projects to the judging panels and retailers will be visited in person by our judges so they can see the businesses for themselves up close.
